[Choc sauce]Something I remember from being a kid

Epic nostalgia :)

I seem to remember the Choc Orange one being my favourite.

I don't know why they stopped selling Ice Magic; it really transformed the dull vanilla-in-a-block style ice cream that parents and other elderly family members insisted upon buying. Moreso than a fan-shaped wafer or tinned bloody mandarin bloody orange bloody segments, anyway.

Proper sized Curly Wurlys... not the small ones they have now!

They've not changed size. Went to the cadbury's museum in birmingham and they had all the curly wurly wrappers going back to the first one lined up next to each other. They were all the same size.

Creme eggs also haven't changed size in the UK. But in the US they're licenced out to hershey's who have changed the size of them to make them smaller.

Posting failure.

As for the ice cream chocolate sauce.. ive always melted down mars bars for mine.. lush! and does the same.. sets hard.. especially with the caramel involved.. you get that whispy thin caramel business going on and i gobble it all up..

<looks at microwave>

you, sir are correct. Works nicely with milk and a saucepan though, too.
Uh, take it from experience, that stuff is not easy to clean off a sweaty body in the aftermath of a little bit of fooling around :o

dirty, dirty boy. I'd love to see eskimos trying the same! :p

Make your own...

WillyNelson's World Famous Icecream Chocolate Sauce
aka. The Dentist's Best Friend

2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
2 tablespoons soft dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons coco powder
1 tablespoon cold water (optional, helps to loosen it up a bit if required)
a nob of butter

melt the water, sugar, syrup & coco together over a gentle heat. When all the sugar has dissolved, take off the heat and stir in the butter. Serve immediatley over a large serving of your favourite icecream.

This goes pretty damn chewy when it cools, better if you miss out the water. However, if you leave it to cool in the fridge overnight & nuke it in the microwave the next day it'll set like cement when you pour it over icecream
