Hey everyone what do you think I should do? Christmas is coming and after reading through the forums ive became confused. What do you think would be the smartest and fastest idea for my PC (this upgrade would preferably make me as ready for future games such as Crysis as much as possible)

1. Buy a Geforce 8800 GTX leaving me with current specs (this was the orgianl idea but after reading about bottlenecking, this made me reconsidure) waiting for a while longer to upgrade CPU and Mobo

2. Buy a Geforce 8800 GTS saving about £100 - £150? and upgrade CPU and Mobo quicker...

Please Help Me!

Are you staying with skt939 coz if you are get an X2 asap before the prices go up even further as supplies are quickly running out!!
You also need to take into account that your going to need more ram, something else to throw in the mix! If it were me i would upgrade the cpu, get more ram and get the gts. :D

Righty o, do u think its worth me sticking in a X2 Athlon 4600+ 939 (they seem to be the only ones avalible) or should i save my money and just get fully bundle upgrade? (mobo, cpu and ram).

Well i have just put in a 4600x2 yesterday and very happy with it, though if i had the money i would go conroe and overclock the hell out of it. the choice is yours depending finances of course! :D

^^ Agreed.

Get a good conroe board like the Asus P5W or the DS4, an E6300 or 6600 if you can stretch, some 800mhz DDR2 RAM and a decent Ati 1950. That will play Crysis on DX9 no problem then when you have some extra cash you can sell on the 1950 and get whatever's the best DX10 card out at that stage.

ok ok so what i may do now is buy this for xmas...£295 bundle

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz Socket LGA775, 2MB, BOXED w/fan
MSI P965 NEO-F
Corsair Value S. PC4200 DDR2 1024MB Kit

Live with my 7800GT a bit longer then get a G80 or R600 like January Febuary time...that seem like a good buy?

The RAM is a bit slow. It will really hold back your overclock. And you might as well get a E6300 as there's not much difference between the two apart from the price.

Oops.

Id agree, you may as well just get the 6300, and some better Ram. :)

Id get this bundle.

1 x Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
1 x Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
1 x GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX21GB6400UDC)

Its only £337 so not much more than the one you were going to get, its also better.

So would these with a 8800GTS be a nice little set?

Oh! btw, the GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4, the ram that comes bundled, would it work ok with my current GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5? or would it conflict? Also for the CPU Cooler im going to buy is the Zalman CNPS9500-AT that ok?

No! Conroe = DDR2 RAM on all motherboards. You could not use your 3200!!

As for the CPU, I'd go for an artic cooling freezer 7 pro. Best for the price.

2nd that, got an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 pro here, low temps, and very quiet, mines only running at 50% and my E6600 idles at 29-31. :)

But unlike 99% of ocuk members you are running at stock :D

Buy a Geforce
