Choices, Choices!

I am getting a new computer but i dont know what graphics to go for. It's either 9600GT SLi, 9800GTX. But what about 8800GTX and 8800GTS. Which performs better?

If i have something other than a 9600GT i will only have one and SLi it at a later date.

P.S. i might be getting a new monitor, 22" or maybe 24".

My opinion on those cards is the 8800gtx especially if you get a 24 inch monitor and want to play with high aa and af. Tbh though on a 22 inch monitor i don't think you would see to much difference between any of those setups. I would say take out the sli 9600s though waste of time as it won't really be of any benefit as it will probably cause u more hickups than its worth. 24 inch screen for me = 8800gtx. 22inch screen would be the 8800gts for me.

Nice to see you made a good purchase to the origional poster :P. As to this latest question. Hmm a toughie. Its either the 9600GT's or the 8800GTX, let me do some research and ill report back i'm mister benchmarks in this thread lol.

Well, to be honest both options get on average exactly the same results. The 9600GT's beat 8800GTX clearly in the COD4 benchamrk, but in crysis, the 8800GTX prevailed. Unreal tournament they got exactly the same average fps. So to be honest both are as good as each other. You will get that extra 256 mb VRAM with the 9600GT's, but to be honest i think the 8800GTX has enough alone and 768 should cover a 22-24" screen. May i add as a cautionary note that on extremeley high settings (1900x1200 16 x AF) in COD4 the 9600GT did pull ahead. Also 8800GTX is just that little bit cheaper than the sli 9600GT's right?

So its your choice, but i hope the above fills you in a little bit more on how they compare.

Heres the article that im reading off
