Choosing a GPU

Hi there,

I am looking to upgrade my GPU which is a ATI Radeon 6770 HD, my monitor runs at 1920 x 1080.

Rest of set up -

AMD Phenom ii x4
Gigabyte ga-m68mt-s2
Cooler master 650w PSU.

I am looking at around the £150 budget but I can go over if needed.

I mainly play Bf3 and am currently enjoying Arkham City too.

I'm tempted by this

But not sure if I would be better off holding out for a 6870.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Would this be preferable over a 6870 2GB then?

WIth that card you wouldn't be able to have as high settings as the 6870 2gb in BF3, you would have to turn down/off things like anti aliasing etc etc to get playable framerates. If you're running 1920x1080 res, BF3 uses up to 1750mb of vram.

560ti / 6950 > 6870. However, as suggested the 2gb radeon is a good shout due to its higher vram for BF3, though Nvidia generally performs better in this title. In other games due to it being at a higher performance tier, the 560ti will handle AA so much better.

OK so we are really saying a 2GB card is the way to go for BF3 then and I could choose between AMD and Nvidia models of roughly the same budget.
