Hi there, I used to have a Kawasaki ZX7R which I was knocked off in September 2010, badly broke my wrist in 3 places.

Fast forward two years I wanted another bike so bought myself a beautiful 2005 R6, absolutely lovely bike but sadly the riding position of it (leaning forwards onto your wrists) is really painful as it presses against the bone which is held together with a metal plate which makes it unbearable after about an hour on it.

I'm heading to Uni next year and a bike is the best option logistically as there are no places to park my car so Im looking for an agile fast sports tourer bike to use for gentle commuting and pleasure with a riding position that will be less hard on the wrists! wondering if any of you might help (preferably under £2.5k as it will be stored outside and dont want to risk an expensive bike getting damaged)

TL:DR looking for a quick agile sports tourer for under 2.5K

Thanks!

FZS 1000 - I've got a £15 jack-up kit and lowered forks on mine which helps keep it agile and the carbed R1 motor is plenty fast enough, pretty perfect as an all-rounder and you should be able to pick a halfway decent one within your budget.

FJ1200.
Cheap, solid, fast, comfortable, big parts market, easy maintenance, large support community, last forever.
Mine cost me £950. Every day I am just blown away by this bike. Should have gotten one years ago!

I have the same issue as you - Broke left wrist twice, right thrice. Still get twinges every day.
The FJ's riding position may take a little getting used to, but I came to mine from riding Cruisers. You'd probably be OK.
Risers are an easy add-on, if you really need them.
Grip puppies make a LOT of difference!

Suzuki RF 900, truly wonderful bomb proof motor, a lot of fun in the twisties with decent modern rubber on, a bit iffy looks wise granted, but you can pick them up pretty damn cheap these days & you get a helluva lot of bike for your money.

Just save a bit and buy a Tiger 1050 ;) Fantastic bike. Mind you, you are looking at about 4k, but it really is money well spent.

My Fazer 1000, pretty much hits all your nails on the head if you ask me.
