Hey i just sold my 260 GTX freeing up £100 for a SSD upgrade, im looking to spend around that excl VAT

so my choices seem to be

Intel X-25V

OCZ Vertex

At a Strech Patriot PS-100

Just wondered from a performace point of view which is best, it will be storing my OS (Win 7) and My Programmes and a couple of games at a time.

Thanks !

Avoid the Patroit PS-100 at all cost till Patroit release a firmware that fixes poor 4k reads and write and also offer Trim support.

Support is also lacking at the moment. Just reminds me ! Need to email useless patroit.

Get the Intel x25-v drive !

Just stay clear of ps-100

lol thanks for the warning i was going to buy it due to the extra capacity till now. So i coiuld get by on the intel 40gig? for uses i listed

well I'm using the Intel X25-V drive at the moment with Win7 64 and all my applications like Office 2010, Finance Software etc and I still have 16gb of space left. They way I set mine up was to move all my games & Document on to my WD Caviar Black 640gb drive. I know some people have put WOW on their SSD.

my docs and games should fit on the ssd i think, ive got a 74gig raptor at the moment so i can put most games on there and non regular programmes then use ssd for essential programmes, often played games and OS then i have a WD 640gig for music and media etc. Should be fine like that right?

o and also, i see you have a cosmos, how did you mount the ssd as i cant see how thats going to work with their wierd drive bays

When I bought mine SSD It was a retail kit which inculded the Intel bay adaptor which I use that to fit in the Hard drive cage.

Yup for what u have listed its fine, i have win7 64bit on mine, Office, and every last application i use, total is just under 20gb, so 17gb free.

I use my Samsung F1 320Gb with 3 partitions (100gb each), for back up, docs, and movies/music.

I've got an OCZ Agility 120 SSD and it's the muts nuts.

What clinches it for me though is the after care / support form OCZ for their kit.

Decent firmware upgrades and a very active forum with staff participation.

The SSD has been the biggest single performance improvement in ages and well worth the spend.
