Morning all

Me and my GF enjoy a boxing match on TV and recently we got talking to a chap at a company dinner who says the greatest boxing match he ever saw was Chris Eubank vs. Michael Watson.

I've done some reading and its somewhat infamous due to it's ending.

Now we would very much like to see this match but can't locate it.

Does anyone know where it can be be bought? In the shops on DVD or online?
Ideally we'd like to see the whole fight and not just the final round.

Much oblidged

It was a good boxing match but I think it's only so renowned because of the ending.
Now, the battles between Eubank and Benn were good boxing matches. Talk about clash of the titans! Dig those out if you can.

Check out Eubanks site, you can buy it from there IIRC. It was never made available to the public at the request of both parties.
IMO it was one of the greatest matches ever. 2 men both at the peak of physical fitness giving it everything for 12 rounds.

That's what I read fella, but disappointingly I checked his site and couldn't find the video's anywhere

I would be quite happy to pay some money to watch them if only I could find them.

Roy Francis, put himself between Eubank's fists and Watson's head and stopped the world title fight. Next, chaos ensued as Watson suddenly collapsed inside the ring. In need of quick medical help, he faced some dire moments: there were neither ambulances nor paramedics at the event and as a result Watson had to endure 30 minutes without oxygen. He was finally provided with an oxygen mask after an ambulance had been rushed from a nearby hospital. This extended time without oxygen proved vital in the outcome of Watson's future, and he spent 40 days in a coma after six brain operations to remove a blood clot.

oh ah.. I was talking about this yesterday as I remember this bout as I was there at White Hart Lane that evening. Indeed it was the sad ending to Watson who was a great boxer.. but Eubank was really in a class of his own due to his antagonistic approach.

I think that the Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClennan fight was the best one in that era.

Sadly for McClennan though, he ended up in the same kind of shape as Michael Watson.

Still an amazing bout to watch though, and I thinks its probably Nigel Benn's best ever fight.

Eubank however, undisputibly had best chin of all those fighters.
You just couldn't knock him out.

Eubank was losing the fight unanimously and got knocked down by Watson in the 11th round. The fact he managed to get up is testament to the physical ability and determination of Eubank. If Watson didnt collapse he would have won that fight.

I know. I watched it. I never said he couldn't be knocked down.
The fact he managed to get up is testament to the physical ability and determination of Eubank.
And the fact he had a chin which seemed to be made of granite. :)

No, Watson didn't collapse until the fight was over. He'd already lost, then he collapsed.
