I'm going to a christening on Sunday, know I'm a bit late. I''m going shopping tomorrow. But what type of things do you buy for christenings. Is it just things like tankards and stuff that can be kept?
And it's usually silver stuff isnt it?

Can you tell its my first christening ever LOL

Usually silver yes, can be a spoon or drinking vessel etc.
You could buck the trend and buy him/her a small bible....

As usual it depends how much you want to spend. I've usually gone with a small silver plate or pewter money box and a wee donation inside it. They're fairly easy to get hold of and available in plenty of different styles - duck, teddy bear, carousel etc

Solid silver frames are REALLY expensive, I strongly suggest a spoon or similar.

Wasn't suggesting solid silver, you must move in higher circles than me. :D

Silver is just the traditional "colour/metal" , silver plated is just as good.

Had a christening myself a few weeks back, I got the little fella a silver St. Christopher necklace/pendant thingy. (patron saint of travel, so a sort of a guide in the journey that is life, or at least that was my thinking anyway).

Well ya know all us sun readers are minted innit.

I looked at buying some for our wedding photos but at £200 a go for the ones I preferred I decided not to bother lol.

can you get plated stuff engraved? or does it have to be solid?

You could but it will go through to the metal underneath and wont be silver so I tell people at work never get anything silver plated engraved, only sterling silver.

Plenty of silver christening gifts around- frames are expensive but John Lewis does lots of winnie the pooh things, first tooth boxes, charms, etc around £30/40.

Found a nice simple sterling silver frame for £60.

Going to pop into town latter and see if I can get his name engraved at the bottom :)

quick help guys,
what the hell do you wright in a christening card?

Also just cut my self shaving can't remember when I last did that, or well my bloods still red :p
