Hello All, as per normal im going to stay with the family over Christmas, and even after 3 years of working on them they refuse to get internet, So its come time for me to install a 56k Modem into my PC and search for a package to suite my needs... I need it to:

Cost a subscription
Be able to cancle after a month
Be unlimited e.g I can be on 24/7 if I want and no costs will be incured (Saw BT Said 150 Hour A Month..., Thats 6 Days So No Good)

Can anyone recomend me a good Dial Up ISP that will cover the above?

Also need to ask, my grandad tried to sign up for dial up internet, but managed to do it wrong and run up a large phone bill, thusly got a block put on his line so he cant dial 08 numbers unless he uses a special prefix to unblock them, will this stop me getting online, or will puttinb the prefix before the number my modem needs to dial sort me out? Thanks... Jcb33

do your folks live in a fairly populated residential area? you could consider seeing if neighbours could let you hook up to their connection via wireless?

Lots of elderly/disabled people where they live.... so no not realy posible

If you having to redial every 2 hours (can be done auto) is not a problem then AOL is the best choice.. £16 a month, no minium term, however at the moment its a month trail free so get that and phone up and cancel before month up and its free!

You can now use AOL to just as a dailer now days instead of loading ALL the software as you used to have to.

Yes.
Also if you're connected 24/7 then what if they need to use the phone?
Well It takes all of a moment to disconect for them to use the phone, but my gran uses her mobile more than her land line even if I tell her to use my phone she very rarely does

Prefix should work fine but you may need it to pause to get a dial tone before dialing the rest of the number. Also don't you think going to see family over christmas but insisting on sole use of the phone 24/7 for a week may be a tad antisocial (pita for anyone attempting to get in touch with your family not just the outgoing calls)? I'm a total Gangwars war wh0re but even i'm willing to let go the back end of this month and enjoy Christmas.

*packs PDA and and AP just incase*
