So as you may or may not know, this Sunday's number one will be Christmas number one. As a result, a team of musicians have came together to release a single in aid of the families fighting for justice of the 96 innocent men, women and children, who lost their lives on 15 April 1989 - Hillsborough disaster.

They have came together to perform a rendition of The Hollies classic "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - under the name "The Justice Collective". The Justice Collective Hillsborough tribute single is released 17 December (today!), and features artists Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Paloma Faith, Beverley Knight, Melanie C, Andy Brown (Lawson), Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes to Hollywood), Mick Jones (The Clash), Peter Hooton (The Farm), (The Justice Tonight band), Chris Sharrock (Oasis), Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Ren Harvieu, Dave McCabe (The Zutons), Paul Heaton (Beautiful South), Shane MacGowan, Hollie Cook, Jon McClure (Reverend & The Makers), John Power (Cast) and Gerry Marsden (Gerry and the Pacemakers).

If you could please copy and paste these links to your facebook, Twitter, other Forums etc. It would help immensely spread the word and help fund a great cause, and is a damn good cover IMHO.

Even if you don't want to/can't afford to, passing it on might pick up a few sales off people who like the song/cause.

Thanks for your help =)

Crap song choice, and looking at the artists that feature just shouts "bandwagon".

That said, I hope they get number 1 for the publicity.

Sorry but I'd rather this won:

Would be nice to have a song win it on musical merit rather than the battle for/against pop culture or (in this case) celebrity medleys

Sorry but justice has generally been served for Hillsborough, not like you can prosecute the police chief from the time seeing as he's been dead for 15 years....

Just one of those not really sure this is a good use of the christmas no.1 publicity.

I'm out and want this classic to be christmas no.1 instead.

Is that what it is for?
Legal fees?
Not to build a memorial, or a park for kids or counscelling for those who were present and survived but lost friends/family?

Yeah legal fee's to pursue those who are responsible, which could now be south yorkshire senior police, the FA, thanks to todays quashing of the original verdict.

Right, no thanks then.
If they want civil cases for compo, then once they win their cases their fees should be covered.

I really do not wish to fund lawyers. I will not be purchasing this.

Not to sound insensitive but surely there must be many better cases for charity singles rather than to pay for court cases for something tragic that happened 23 years ago.

Only 3000 sales bettween this and last weeks x-factor number one on the midweek chart so it's looking like a close run thing.

If the money was for anything other than the ongoing legal fight I would buy it but charity is not about making lawyers richer, I would happily put in for a memorial/park/counselling and support for the families but not this.
