Cliff (my husband) has his one tomorrow and we're both going, black tie so he's wearing a white tux :D with waistcoat and black trousers. I have a lovely new long black dress with some detail at the top. Can't wait to get out again as it's been a couple of months since we've managed :)

When is everyone else going to their work do? I'll have to post some pics of Cliff in his white tux on Sunday :D

Even better for us the work do is being held at a hotel 1 mile away from us :D

mine is tonight
i'm not going to the meal (no vege option!) but i'm going for the drinks after
i'm in a black shirt dress from gap, and boots - it's meant to be 'smart', but this is as smart as i get!
i wish my better half was going - but he doesn't fancy it!
we're not going to his works do, it's too far away and would mean he couldn't drink

Have a good time :) Shame there's no vegetarian option, I'm a vegetarian too but have been well catered for, I didn't like the only meal option so the woman organising it called up the hotel and requested something else :)

It is bad form to break traditional dress code, even worse than removing your jacket before the host. If he has any respect for the host he will turn up in proper dress.

Etiquette must be respected. Formal dress is one of the great traditions that hasn't been tainted too much by modern fashion and ignoring such an established dress code is disrespectful and embarrassing.

It's not that sort of office :p It's not officially black tie, they're just all wearing a tux. If you'd met them you'd understand :p

Think we'd rather have pics of someone else! ;)

Gonna get absolutely kerploshed and get a taxi? :D

As in taxi back afterwards, not get kerploshed and get a taxi THERE. :D

Fixed. :p

Hehe, yeah taxi back :D

The white tux can't be changed at this point so let's not make him feel like a complete **** eh. Anyway, I'll love it and at the end of the night it'll all be worth it for him :p

Back on the topic of the post my works do is on the 18th and all drinks food bowling and any nightclubs we want to go to are paid for by the boss in cash + our taxi home its brilliant! Makes up for the carp wages. Rather than comment on your dress sense, I understand every company is different and that what might be inappropriate in some is perfectly acceptable in others, I'm just going to say I hope that you both have a brilliant time and have lots of fun! Thats what its about right?

Aero

Totally agree, have some fun and just enjoy the night :) Thank you, I appreciate those comments :) Sounds like you'll be having a good night on your do too :D

Agreed, only a rum cove would display such decadence at a formal function. I fear for Cliff's career.

Lol you should have seen him the last time they went out  Not what he wore but he was just slightly intoxicated :p We went to the Swansea Christmas meet a few years ago and he disappeared at one point in the evening for a while. I sent one of the blokes to look for him in the toilets and they found him in there, he'd been in there ages, on the floor iirc :p He doesn't drink very often thankfully and he's on his best behaviour tonight ;)

What?! What's it made out of - toilet paper? That's the kind of garment that poor kids in 3rd world countries refuse to make! :p

How did the prices work out?
Jacket - £15?
Trousers - £10?
Shirt - £10?
Bow tie - £5?

Need pics tbh - that's shockingly cheap!

That is really cheap, Cliff's cost £75 to hire.

I've still got the recording of him doing the staying alive movements alone on a dancefloor :p One of his workmates did it on their mobile :p

I recommend you just paint an evening outfit on, it'll probably look better. A bit of matt black for the jacket and trousers, white emulsion for the shirt, satin black for the bow tie and lapels and some gloss black for your feet.

£15-20 would do it.

Lol I can just imagine that :p What a shock that would cause :p

It's only a matter of time before one of these so called 'fashion designers' does it. I suppose it would be something different. I'm sure after a few drinks you could persuade Cliff to slip into an emulsion outfit?

Hehe, even he wouldn't do that I don't think :p
