Chrome - how is it compared to the Fox of Fire?

Firefox for addons. :)

FoxMarks is brilliant, syncs my favourites between my PC and Laptop and even backs them up on the net to restore. :D Updates everytime you exit FF I think.

Currently finding FF, Opera and IE8 Beta to be top browsers, I change depending on how I feel, FF for addons, IE for porn mode etc.

IE7 comes second just for all round compatability.

Chrome comes a distant last for compatability and general privacy concerns. Ahyone who thinks Google is anything other than an advertising company now needs to wake up and smell the coffee i'm afraid

Firefox + AdBlock Plus > * In my opinion.

Google Chrome is a very nice, lightweight browser. If there were some good add-ons to be developed for it, I think many users of other browsers would move to Chrome. However, Chrome will probably be in beta for a very long time as it is Google!

What make Chrome so bad for compatability and privacy concerns?

......When a user conducts a search using Google's search engine, the company stores three main types of information in a log file: the user's IP address (which is a unique network address given to her computer by her Internet service provider), the words that she searched for, and her cookie identifier (a unique value given to every Web-browser that visits a Google Web-property).

.......If you use Google Chrome, Google will know every URL you type into the location bar. More than that, they will know (almost) every partial URL you type into the location bar. More than that, they will know every word or phrase you type into the location bar, even if you type it and then delete it before pressing enter. More than that, all this information can be linked with your main Google account, because Google sends your cookie along with every automatic search it performs from the location bar. Chrome will use the cookie of whatever Google account you are currently logged into.

From various sources, courtesy of a Google search!

It amazes me how the same people who soil their pants when superantimalwareblockerplus2008 finds the odd tracker cookie will blindly install stuff like chrome.

Also, I'm always surprised how many ads remain when using FF and adblock. If you've ever used a 3rd party app such as the mighty Admuncher you'd know what I mean.

I once called Chrome a glorified keylogger - perhaps a bit strong, but not a million miles from the truth.

;)

Whats the harm in that then?

Well personally, I don't want programs transmitting potentially identifiable and personal information back to "big brother".

Have you got an antispyware app installed on your PC? If so, what exactly do you want it to protect you against?

No Antispyware. I don't care to be honest.

Loving Firefox so far.

Used IE for years. Tried Opera, didn't like it. Tried Chrome, very fast but had a few issues with a couple of websites.

Been using Firefox for a few days now and all i can say is waw! Really great browser!

Same. Don't know why people torture themselves with these cult browsers when IE7 does a perfectly good job.

Does IE7 allow for loads of nifty addons?

Nope and I wasn't aware somebody made a Scientology browser.

Firefox is just better in general, I don't know why people torture themselves with IE when other available browsers do a better job.

Better is a wholely subjective term. Personally I rate IE7 over Firefox (2 or 3), Chrome about between the two and opera at the top. I have all the browers installed on my system, but nearly always only have opera and IE actually being used. The others are only there for compatibility or interest purposes.

Whilst I agree with you that all this is subjective, I'm very curious to learn which features/advantages IE7 has which make it, in your opinion, a superior browser to Firefox 3?
