Chromecast: Simplest way to wifi my main pc

Hmm. Actually come to think of it, Kodi would be my desired use for one of those sort of things. But what bothers me is it's wifi only, right? (the chromecast side). Yet we have wired gigabit to most rooms here. Including RJ45s right near the TVs. It sounds best thing to get an authentic chromecast hardware / software. I'd much prefer it to be wired. Not wifi. To have lowest lag / best network connection. Is there anything like that solution possible? E.g. something similar that can be put on the same chromecast linux software. Like other google family devices etc. ?

They have or are releasing a part which plugs into the chrome cast to allow it to be connected directly to ethernet. Can't remember what it's called mind.

EDIT: search ethernet adapter for Chromecast I'd just give you the link but it may be classed as a competitor link, probably not but don't wanna chance it.

search ethernet adapter for Chromecast

OK thanks for this! It solves my problem / reservations.

It seems like a USB 2.0 adapter in which case likely it's 10/100 speeds. I'd rather have gigabit so I'd probably prefer to wait for them to announce / release the 'Chromecat 2' as is also mentioned in that same article ^^.

Clearly it's not just me then if the thing completely sold out in only 1 day. All those people who already have Chromecasts and are already dying for some kind of a speedup / networking improvement.

Well it's sold out and unavailable. And it seems the v2 hardware update won't have wired either (or faster USB for gigabit).

However this article does mention some competitor product(s). Which are to quote:

> "Since Chromecast was released it's seen competition primarily from the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Roku Streaming Stick. With these rivals costing an equally affordable £25 (for now - RRP £35) and £49 respectively,"

But I am assuming they are inferior products to the Chromecast. Correct?
