This is the best piece of gaming news I've heard all year!

Intriguing battle system made possible by the unique combination of the Active Time Battle system and Tech skills

Ive never played Chrono Trigger but ive heard its one of the best rpg's ever.

Please tell me it isnt turn based battle systems.

XPE it is turn based, however you can have active time, which basically means the enemies move around and attack you at will and you have an energy bar that goes up before you can attack. This bar can be made faster/slower etc with various items etc.

It is one of the best RPG's though, FF7 stole a lot from it actually.

Absolutely brilliant news :)

I can see it being added to my DS very soon after it comes out in English :)
I never did manage to finish it on the snes :(

Wooo. I was thinking of starting up a new game on CT just the other day. I might wait now. Ace game. Beautifully drawn, good story, and just loads of fun to explore. Better than FF7, it's my favourite RPG of all time.

EDIT: I didn't even consider that they might add stuff! If they do I'd be a happy, happy man.

Please tell me it isnt turn based battle systems.
Fraid so. It's essentially the same ATB system that the Final Fantasy games used up until 9. If that's not your thing then you probably won't enjoy it.

That said, I find the complete lack of random encounters (you never fight enemies on the world map, and you see them within each area, never going into a separate battle screen with them) improves the game so much. Plus, it's graded so nicely that you never have to grind through an area to get strong enough to move on.

Let's be honest here lads, it's quite a bit different. The enemies as mentioned earlier are on the screen area with no random battles. FFVI it's the usual static portraits.

I agree it's a similar system but it was so much more developed and has more similarities with Secret of Mana if anything.

About bloody time! Chrono Trigger is easily one of the best RPGs ever. I personally don't rate it higher than FFVII, but I can see why people would.

An awesome RPG automaticly becomes crap when turn based combat is implemented in my eyes.

Like them Shining Souls games they were much better with action combat than their older Shining Force that came before them.
