Cider

We all drinks zyder down yer! Proper stuff though and not filthy Irish imitation hyped up stuff. Over ice! Whatever next. :(

Ive never been refused diesel or snakebite. arnt they both the same thing, just called different names.

Gilly your right, strongbow and magners taste totally different. Strongbow has more of a nice enjoyable chemical kick thats really nice on a hot day when served ice cold.

Magners is more refreshing

anyone tried strawberry cider (rothers i think it was called) really nice

I want to have a good old white lightening night. 2 or 3 litres whilst roaming the streets used to be great fun :) only £1 a litre when i used to get it aswell, bargain!

frosty jack from morrisons is nearest ive had, that was 3 years ago before bondi beach all you can drink £10. not a good idea!!

Nope :) Diesel is snakebite with black.

Strongbow Sirrus is nice over ice as well. No point not drinking it through principal. It tastes much better than the muck with bits in at any rate :)

used to drink white lightening, 3 litre bottle between me and my mate one night standing in the pouring rain age: 15, i drink magners on ice now!!!!11ONEone 4tw

pear cider is rotten!

The only "Pint" i drink is cider. It's been that way for about 12 years. I find Lager is too bitter, and Beer is FAR too bitter.

My favourite is Strongbow Sirrus, then Woodpecker, Magners, and Strongbow. I usually end up drinking the latter because Magners is usually a rip off, and Woodpecker isn't sold in many pubs in Sheffield.

I'm off to Barnsley tonight, and there's plenty of Woodpecker there. Huzzah!

i'll try the pear stuff, sounds interesting.

One of my memories of white lightening was drinking it on a golf course and my stumbling over into a tee off point and wacking my head on a corner bit of wood. Then i just have vague memories of being carried home by 2 of the mates who were with me age 15 and 16.
Then arriving at my front door and my mum and dad carrying me inside :(

Its a terrible thing when your mum has to put you on the toilet for a number 2 when your 13 :( :o :( (worse things happened before and after that tho)

It's true, the Magners marketing dept has done a fantastic job. To be fair though, it tastes a hell of a lot better than blackthorn/strongbow.
Indeed. Noticed how most ciders now suggest serving over ice instead of just ice cold? I was introduced to this back in about '99 by an Irishman who drank the pub, however I was totally ridiculed by mates when I ordered a pint of cider and a pint mug filled with ice.

I don't do lager/beer so cider is my pint of choice.
Strongbow is nice, Blackthorne can make a refreshing change, Magners = Woodpecker. Nicest one I've seen regularly on draught is Stowford Press.

Magners and Bulmers everywhere.

Magners and Bulmers are the same thing as far as I am aware, it is Bulmers in Ireland but Magners over here and they both taste equally nasty. Point of principle never to fully trust any drink that requires you to drink it with ice, the coldness is there to mask the taste and it doesn't even do that all that well.

That said Snakebite and Black can often be quite good for a change, I'm not sure whether it gets you any drunker than most other drinks though, it might just be most of the time when I'm in the mood for an Snakebite and Black I'm already half-cut. ;)

not where im from, we have tins of pear cider called Koperberg

It is quite common for pear cider to be called perry cider in Europe although I don't know so much about in England, Finland had a vaguely drinkable version called Upcider, also came in apple and tasted like juice. :)

Kopparberg is a brand. Perry is a type.

winner. i love this stuff. :D

and from the off-licence, you can't beat merrydown vintage medium cider. packs a punch too at 7.5% but doesn't taste that strong. it's lovely stuff.

The only thing I've ever mixed with cider is pernod. My all time favourite for taste was Dry Blackthorn Super. I've not seen that in a while though :(

My main drink is local cider (Stowfords Press) as we live in the next county from Herefordshire. Beautiful drink - refreshing, tasty, fairly strong, cheap, no hang over/wind etc. Much better than the mainstream crap they call cider.

Just read up, Nelson you're the man! :D

I remember the first time I had Snakebite and black, I was in a Walkabout and ordered a JD and coke and for some bizarre reason the barmaid gave me that instead - wasn't particularly bad.

Used to drink cider a lot when I first started drinking, unfortunately it was the nasty stuff - K, TNT (although the bottle was in the shape of a stick of dynamite) and Scrumpy Jack (which wasn't too bad I suppose).
