Cider

Ah, the joys of being at uni in bristol.

I shall shortly be wandering off to the Cori Tap, where they serve the greatest drink known to man, Exhibition :D
Ah, the wonderful delights of strong cider and of course Smiles beers as well. Suppin' a few too many pints of that particular fighting juice was one of pastimes when I was down there in Briz. :)

I'm sorry but the Irish making cider is a laughable as the French doing it.

Koperberg sounds like a German lager. Is it nice? :)

I refuse to like them on principle, the Frenchies should stick to whining, sorry, wine. Cider should really only come from from five places, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Devon and there is an EU Protected Geographical Indication (try saying that after a couple of pints of Stowford :) ) to indicate that important tradition. Everyone thinks that people form the West Country are difficult to undersatnd due to their accent but really we are all hammered on strong cider. :D

I only drink Cider, the stronger the better. K Cider is the nicest :D
Can you still get that stuff, I certainly hope not? That stuff had a 'mighty ole kick on 'er' and I remember getting into a few scrapes after drinking too many of those evil black bottles. :o

Its hard to find them in pubs but the shops still sell them :D

Grew up in Bristol and educated in Exeter so I've tried a few. :D

Inch's Farmhouse - a little cloudy, had me sideways on two pints.
Natch - sweet and a bit too fizzy, unfortunate connections with B@!h
Old Cripplecock - A scrumpy only sold in Dawlish as far as I know. As the name suggests...potent.
Savannah - Saht Afrikin cider. Light and fruity, but dry as the plains it takes it's name from. Very refreshing without the stigma of Woodpecker.
Exhibition - As strong and dark as a cuban middleweight with the punch to match. Only served in half measures in the Coronation Tap, Clifton.
Unknown Sink Cleaner - Served from a plastic keg for 99p during an attempt at the Topsham 10 with the warning 'now, you go easy on this, lads.' Watery taste with a finish as rough as a badger's arse. ABV? 'Something like 10% I reckon, lads.' |Does not sit well with fish and chips :o :(

I'll also give a special mention to Brothers Bar Festival Strength Pear Cider, as sold at Glasto. 2 of those at 11 AM and you're freakin' psychodelic

Love a drop of Henry Westons Special Vintage, sparkling cider. Not a fan of flat traditional cloudy cider. Must say, i have just found the joy of 'St Helier Pear Cider', far nicer than Kopaberg (sp) makes a nice refreshing change.

Its funny, i have only ever drunk cider for the last 19 years!

I cant stand beer as it smells/tastes gross.
I never got the impression that it was seen as a girls drink though, especially as invariably it was stronger than more regular beers! I think i have missed out on the Magners experience though!

Scrumpy Jack is lovely :)

Not keen on cloudy ciders myself. Think it is because if you have cloudy wee it is a bad sign, so cloudy cider can't be very good either can it! :)

. My all time favourite for taste was Dry Blackthorn Super. I've not seen that in a while though :(

My god that was strong stuff.

The only alcoholic beverage to consistently make me vomit in my own bed.

I was scared of ending up like Jimi Hendrix and the rest so I stopped drinking it.

I've always preferred cider :)

Many of my mates say "oh cider's great in the summer", to which i replied, "you're only bloody saying that because of magners' advertising strategy". They still seem pretty defiant. Idiots.

Strongbow > Magners anyway :D
