Cigars

I'd recommend using cgarsltd.co.uk.

Firstly, a warning;
Tubes will not keep your cigars safe. They are for safe packaging, and will only keep them at their best for about a week or so. I do not recommend leaving a load of nice cigars in the packaging tubes up until August, especially not for wedding favours that have cost a fair bit!!!

This is great advice, as I skipped over the part where you mentioned you wanted to buy them that far in advance! If you're buying any cigars, whether in a tube or not, and not planning on keeping them in a humidor situation, and not smoking them within 3-4 days, don't buy them. As stated above, a tube will not keep a cigar in perfect condition. Or even a smokable condition. I would personally recommend buying them a few days before you need them if you don't want to use any form of humidor. The humipouch is pretty good, and I have used them once before with a problem.

I can also recommend CgarsLTD, I have used them a couple of times, and nothing but good things. If you want to buy in Britain, this is the place to go as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, they or any British seller can't even come close to competing on price with Geneva, and therefore, the prices you will find on Cgars will be significantly (almost twice as high in some instances) as Topcubans, and other sellers based there.

Detroit Waves, how does it work with ordering from Geneva? Are there any taxes you get hit by? I'm always interested on finding cheaper ways of getting my smokes.

Yes, you will get hit by import and duty, heavily.

I would say heavily is a bit of an exaggeration.

I had import and duty charges on about half the packages Ive had sent from them. Whatever you do, you should by no means try and avoid these charges, or do anything to try and avoid them. What dictates these charges appearing on some packages and not on others, I can't say, Ive never questioned it too far.

The times I have been charged, have been of packages of various sizes and quantities, so I can't give you a price. However, I too am alway son the look out for the best price possible, so I always added the price of tax once in the UK, to the price I paid, and every time, the prices total were still 20% lower than I would have paid at Cgars, or other UK stores.

This is just my experience though. As I have said, in terms of service, Cgars and Topcubans are equally as good. In terms of price, I find ordering from Topcubans has been better every time.

Cheers for the reply. Just looking at TopCubans and see a box of 25 RYJ Coronas will run 154 quid. What's the VAT rate? 20%? So that'd be what, 180-something?. Compared to the 289 quid CgarsLTD are charging....

If you're going to be drinking, any £5 cigar will do. You will neither get the flavour or enjoyment unless you/they smoke it sober. May aswell just buy hamlets if everyone is going to be drunk.

If not however, H. Upmann Coronas Juniors are a good size for events, not too big so they don't last long and a unique flavour, think I got mine for about £4 two years ago.

Stay away from Romeo Y Guiletas, every **** smokes those, theyre overrated.

All depends if TopCubans puts their excise charges, and import VAT within that price or if it's added on after.

lol. Ignore this joker.

OK. If thats not posh enough, Cohiba Siglo 4's are enough. R+J's? Dont even compare.

Siglo 4's are far too expensive. R+Js are great cigars, not sure what youre problem is with them. Or is it just a "Everyone smokes them so I have to hate them to be elite"?

What sort of figures would you be looking at then?

Not too sure, struggling to find concise figures online. VAT @ 20%, excise at 12%, and not sure what duty stands at.

Seriously doubt the UK government would leave such a huge loophole for people to get out of paying so much less for tobacco.

No just never found the to be all they're cracked up to be to be honest, taste wise, found them very bland. I got my Siglo 4's out of the country so looking at it they're out of range for OP.

Listen to everything this guy says.

Topcubans looks good, but won't I get ****** in the bum for import taxes if I order from there to the UK?

On a side note: I was in Detroit a few months ago and I have had a Monetcristo Churchill size in a tube and in a sealed bag since early Feb. I intend to smoke it in 2 weeks time on a special occasion. Is there anything I should do to rehumidify it or anything? Aside from showing people it, it has been in the tube, in an airtight bag since I bought it, which was from a humdified room in a smoking shop.
