Running the above, I'm getting 82 Celsius on a 3700x using a Dark Rock Pro 4.

I'm thinking this is tolerable given the temperatures, it's been on idling all day and it's still 29 Celsius outside.

Interested in other opinions / temps.

Hard to tell without knowing what you run the rest of the cooling or how the rest of cooling in your system is configured. If just purely about that specific CPU temp, I can't comment on that as I don't have one of those.

But, for added reference, when running R20, because I've got a desk fan blowing in my face right now (which is loud), I can basically turn up all my case fans to full (1800rpm), and leave my CPU fans at 300-600rpm (that's locked in at the BIOS and controlled by it). Temps idle at 42C package, and top out at 73C. Room temp is around 33C. CPU is a 4930k at 4.2ghz, running at 1.22v when on full. It is cooled by a Noctua U12A. With around 10 Noctua A12x25s running on full in the case. Internal air temperature above the CPU and GPU (top rear of case) never exceeds 39C. Typically the air above the CPU and GPU in this 30+ room temp is around 37C.

Cheers for answering.

It's a full tower case with 9 x PWM 120mm fans, 4 intakes and 5 exhaust, although 3 of those are in the roof and I don't expect they do that much. It normally topped out at 73 Celsius during cooler weather a week ago, so i'm thinking 82 in this weather is probably about right.

Idle is about the same as yours, 42-43 Celsius. This was an all core Cinebench run but only a single pass.

Yeah a ~10C difference is about what I'd be expecting from the jump of temps lately too. My rig is normally ran at higher temps but at cost of near no noise (through fans nearly not running at all, 300rpm to 600pm only), so during hotter weather like now where doing that is not a good idea (as rig will reach auto-shutdown temps), it needs to be (semi) adjusted to compensate depending on the changed difference.

Again, from what you've described, that sounds totally normal, but should probably wait for someone with a (near?) identical chip who can confirm that your temps are fine as they are.

Yeah, you're right. Someone air cooling a 3700x right now would be the best person to provide that info. But your answers give me a bit of an idea :)

I'm new to this Ryzen game, so not sure what to expect. I've learned a lot about them, but interested in what others are finding now. It's 9pm and still 24 Celsius out there

I'm not, my room heats up like a sauna without it being on. Rather not melt, so I just leave it off until the weather improves.

Your place must be even hotter than mine, it's actually cooling off a little in Manchester tonight. But I'm glad I tested this chip while it was such warm weather, it seems to have passed that test.

South East, my flat as pretty **** insulation I guess. It gets way too hot, need to get air con to be honest. Should **** down with rain soon.

3700x with Noctua D15.
Cinebench runs to about 72c
Mid 70s if I run it several times.

I am using a full tower case with lots and lots of airflow though.
I expect this to be down to the 60s easily in cooler weather...

Yeah, this is where I'm at, it went to 73c in the weather that came before the heat. And again, full tower case with lots of fans and airflow.

Yesterday was the hottest day for us down south at 33C and my CPU reached 63C while under full load, usually high 50's.

I'm not brave enough to do any form of water cooling. But I also like the industrial look of a big air cooler.

Am I missing something?

If it is too hot to run a benchmark at the moment.... Don't? :p

82 seems OK to me given the higher than usual ambient temperature though.

It seemed ideal weather to see how it performs under extreme conditions :D

Just ran it now, it's still a warm summer evening but a pleasant one because there's actual air, my window is wide open still at 1.50am. 75c this time, so I'm coming to the conclusion that these temperatures are okay.

Yes you are.

We're MORE likely to run a benchmark over and over when we're not supposed to!
