I go to the cinema about 6 times a year at least, for the most part I enjoy it, but I prefer to watch at home as its less costly and more comfortable. The only problem is you can only watch the latest films at cinema, hopefully that will change. Oh take your own food and drink next time, smuggle it in if you have to.:D

Tickets at our local cinema are £4, for the two of us with orange wednesdays that's just £2 each.. well worth it! :D

The cost of food there .. that's another matter

My friend works in a cinema, so he takes me to see films for free. He also gets money off food and snacks (which brings them down to just over reasonable). It's much better, I'd never consider paying to go myself!

I get bored on films very quickly and don't really enjoy the whole 'cinema/film experience' though. Need to see a decent 3d film though and see if that changes my mind.

I went the other week and to be honest it wasn't all that amazing. I found the picture quality in the cinema to really REALLY crap contrast, everything was washed out. The sound was the same, it didn't fill the room at all.

It can be great fun though, it just needs sprucing up and a ban on yobs.

Cinema £13.50 a month, see 5 films on average with one of them being 3d so that's about £3 a showing. I don't have a comfy sofa or a big projector or an awesome sound system so for me it's cinema every time. I do still watch films at home but without investing in a good system I will always chose cinema.

Went to the cinema today to see Kickass. Bought drinks and food from poundland (less than £2 spend for me), cinema ticket £5.70 (I'm a student). Reasonably comfy, good quality audio and visual, good experience.

To equal that quality at home costs £1000's .

I did enjoy mamma mia on the big screen compared to the small. Especially the overview shots when u see them walkin up to the top of the er mountain? that was some mint views and really cool.

Other films are canny all depends. Clash of the titans was kinda cool but i think i wouldnt mind the small screen as much.

Stick porn on and have giant boobies and ull see me there every night. :p

Btw go early dont go at evenings its far cheaper about 2.50 on tuesdays at the empire cinema here or 2 adult tickets for 3 quid using orange wed if u go about 11am.

About snacks, u cant take ur own unless u smuggle em.

In all tho i like the small screen but if theres a film i really want to see on a grand scale for beauty shots then cinema i guess depends if i have the dosh tho.

Last year i managed to get a cineworld unlimited card for £40 for the year.
Watched so many rubbish movies. It would have hurt to fork a tenner out on them.

But when watching an awesome movie, then the cinema is simply amazing.. unfortunately these films are few and far between!

As Rotty said. Buy snacks from a shop nearby or bring your own. No need to pay the ridiculous prices!

I presume when heading to the local pub you first make a stop at the off-license to purchase drinks?

If the cinema had to operate on only the takings from the box office then it would very quickly go out of business as a large percentage of the money you hand over for tickets goes back to the distributors who take their cut and then back to whatever production company/film crew and so on.

With regard to the people annoying you did you say or do anything about it or did you just sit there. Fair enough the cinema staff should be checking screens to make sure there's no noise or mucking around but they're not omnipresent and definitely not telekinetic, tell the staff either by going out to them or even just ringing the cinema (note, this is the only time I would ever condone the use of a phone in a cinema), they're there to ensure your cinema experience is a good one so use them.

A large amount of problems currently in cinemas has to do with the scum who go to them and generally wreck the experience for everybody else. Thankfully they are in the minority and if you pick the right times to go and the right films to go to then you can avoid them. Unfortunately for you I would imagine Orange night would be scum central.

Haven't been to the cinema for a long, long time. Not the cinemas fault, but the last 3 or 4 films I chose to go see were absolutely shocking. Think they were the last two Bond films and Star Wars 1-3.

Since then I've realised that whenever I see a film trailer and think "ooh, that looks good!" the chances are it'll suck horribly!

Yeah but if you don't already have the surround sound you could be going to the cinema for a few years before you have started to save the money you would need to spend for a decent av system.
