Spec me a CP :)

Well, actually I have seen a Hoya one in a green box, but have also seen a Pro one? Much difference between the two? Perhaps B&W instead? Will be for a 17-50 Tamron 2.8. Its Wide Angle, but less wide than my 10-20; is it still wide enough to suffer from the dark corners?

:)

I just purchased a Hoya Circular Polarising filter and I think I could help a little bit. I seen there was 3 models (well from what I seen) including the green(cheapest) and pro(expensive). I wanted to get the middle one which normally goes for £45ish.

I shopped about a bit and found on a competitors site (think tree's) the middle version for £24 which is the same price as the green version.

If you look at a popular auction website there are a lot of HK stores selling Hoya Pro-1 Digital CP and Kenko Pro-1's for a very reasonably price. The only difference between the two is the coating on the glass.

As for the difference between the different hoya filters, it'll be down to the glass used. The pro-1 digital CP uses very thin glass which is optically better - I believe it helps reduce Vignetting and allows more light in, so you don't lose as many stops of light as you do with cheaper ones (there's probably some other benefits but i'm not really an expert so don't take my word for it!)

B + W have a very good reputation and I know some people prefer the build because the frame is made out of a different material, but you're going to pay a lot of money for them.

looking at all the test pics even the top 2 theres next to no difference , the = 1st place one you see the green light reflections missgin from the 2nd pic but nothing else
