Hoya Circular Polarize filters

Is there much difference between the G-Series and the Pro 1 apart from the price, to be used on a 18-105 VR and a 70-300 VR ?

The Pro-1s have better coatings etc, they're also a bit slimmer but that won't make much difference on those lenses.

Hoya make filters under another name, ostensibly for the Japanese market but they're available over here if you look hard enough. Same quality but a fair bit cheaper, unfortunately I've forgotten the name....
 
How much are we talking for a Pro-1?

I'd personally recommend a B&W MRC Kasemann, but I'm not sure what the price difference is tbh.

Kenko. I have one spare actually 77mm.

Kenko pro 1's use the same slim glass but don't have as good a coating as the Hoya pro 1's.
 
If you really want a CPL for those lenses I would err on the side of caution and go for B+W. I used to get significant softening using a Hoya Pro1 UV filter on my 70-300VR (and I'm not the only one). Now the CPLs might not be the same, but probably better to spend the extra now than have to buy again in the future.
