Greetings, im aware that both Cisco Call Manager and Unity can be installed on self sourced hardware namely HP and IBM servers respectively as they are re badged to begin with.

Would anyone know of a list of said equipment on which both unity and call manager has been successfully installed on?

Regards

I understand that HP DL380 G5 is compatible...or vmware...

Indeed, i have an issue where by a customer wishes to source the server there selves, i have a terrible feeling that it will be a quad core opterton clone which scares me!

Had a chat with Cisco why the price of the MCS servers plus Windows 2003 software is more expensive than regular list price, apparently the version of Win2k3 bundled with there product comes with essential "Add Ons" hummm more digging needed.

I have a few friends who designed BA's callmanager system, they say, the windows on callmanager servers is customised - by adding some registry entries. Literally thats all.

Bear in mind though, all the latest callmanager versions run linux instead of windows (I think windows went out with v4, certainly the v6 i have running in vmware is basically RHEL underneath).

If you want a production system you can support, you need to buy Cisco MCS gear unfortunately. For lab use a hacked install works fine but I wouldn't go into production with it.
