I have been waiting several months for this router to come to the UK, well europe would be a nice start. It was released in the US about 5-6 months ago as far as I am aware, does anyone know if us brits are EVER going to get the trusty 610 replacement? Want to replace the router I have atm and I am sick of waiting!

It's simply a rebranded WRT610N v2 with some extra software to clog up your pc. Not that i'd ever use stock linksys firmware or take the cd out the packet. dd-wrt all the way on my 610n.

Someone over on the ddwrt forums flashed their wrt320n to an e2000. (320n's have a 'fault' that the e2000 firmware doesn't have)

There are also a few changes to the properties of the E3000 however, found some reviews which show the E3000 having slightly better signal strength and data throughput. I know it is essentially the same router however, but hardly anywhere has the 610 in stock so I thought I may as well wait for the E3000.

Have decided to go for the ASUS RT-N16 however, also has good potential for dd-wrt because of the 32MB Flash/128MB RAM.

They were most probably comparing it to the wrt610n v1 which has a slower and older processor than the v2. The n16 is a great choice though, enjoy. :)

Just get a 610N, Stockists will have had the v2 for a while now which is exactly the same thing as the e3000. You can flash it to dd-wrt/ the e3000 version firmware.

I did this i bought a brand new WRT610N from a competitor , and a brand new Version 1 turned up , so i sent it back .. If i could guarantee a version 2 , i'd order i now ...

Order from a shop that specialises in networking products, email them if you want to be 100% sure. I can't help you further than that due to the rules.

Jayster, not had any upnp problems with mine. Running stock or dd-wrt, I ran 4 ps3's and 3 xbox360's in my uni house last year with no problems. Could be a fault with how the router/consoles/network is setup.

I tried this , i emailed a sales office of a place, and was told that they wouldn't guarantee that i got a version 2 , this is why i started to look for the E3000..

Hmm, what do you recommend?

Reset the network settings on the consoles.
Make sure you are not double nat'd (2 routers)
An obvious one but make sure upnp is switched on and allowed to work.
Hard reset the router and change only the essential settings while turning upnp on.

Outside of that, I can't think of anything right now.
