cisco time/date change

switch - WS-C3548-XL-EN

i can change the time on the switch using

"clock set 16:48:10 15 july 2008"

then i save

"copy running-config startup-config"

the switch shows the new time running "show clock"

then "reload" switch

once its reloaded and log back in it reverts back to 1993 date

what am i doing wrong, its obviously not saving for some reason ?

The clock on Cisco gear resets when it's power cycled - you need to set an NTP server up - point it to one of the one's on the net...

conf t
ntp server x.x.x.x
exit
wr mem

Then you'll need to setup the timezone to take into account GMT - there's a thread about it on here somewhere...

There are loads out there, I'd give you ours but we restrict access to our own AS...
