CISCO Training......worth it?

It's all networking theory, protocols, standards, configuring Cisco hardware etc. No Wintel/UNIX etc at all.

All the big online bookshops will sell them.

Sybex do a good one for CCNA, and I recommend getting the 'official' Cisco press books too, written by Steve McQuerry.

cool, I've always been tempted to do these courses.
maybe once I get a full time job in the real world rather than slacking around working for myself I'll do one of these.
I think I'd rather go in and be taught more than reading it all from a book, even if its just a bit of in class stuff and mostly out of class I find it a lot easyer to keep motivated about stuff like this.

You're lucky, I found it incredibly hard to motivate myself to read up on the stuff after working with it for eleven hours a day

You can take the exams at any number of centres around the country with no formal preparation. Just book, turn up and take it.

That would because thats how i did the course.

You can just book and turn up to an exam, but its not recomended unless your familliar with the cisco equipment and all the new stuff that they put into the course.

Its all networking stuff.
CCNA is right from basic lan stuff all the way up to wan stuff.
CCNP is all the same, but much more in depth.

SO do you have to do CCNA before CCNP? Is there a specific order or just do what you think you can?

AFAIK you can do them in any order, but its obviously better to do the CCNA before the CCNP coz it prepares you for the stuff you learn about in the CCNP.

Yes, you need the CCNA before you can do the CCNP. However, you can go straight into CCIE if you're mad, rich or both.

I'm just starting my CCNA studies, got some books and started setting up a home lab for some hands on. Lot's of stuff on Ebay.

I'm fairly sure it says Internetwork on certificate #1024

Earliest one I could find... Still eleven years old though.

Well I have the logical brain lol. My boss is CCIE certified and he lent me his books. My brain hurt after a while of reading them.

I used to leaf through one of the CCIE Routing/Switching books when covering for one of the CCIEs at work. It all sort of made sense but, yes, head-hurt soon followed.
