Cisco v HP switch

You don't, but you can get one cheaper second hand.

They'll still be double the price of a second hand 2960S. Nothing wrong with refurb or second hand if you know where it's come from, but lets not resort to pointless overspecification

Are neither of the companies recommending redundant paths between the servers and storage?

IMHO, we're all guessing without a proper network diagram. NAS, iSCSI and virtualization have been mentioned but who knows if that some sort of "proper" vSphere / HyperV setup or maybe somebody running a couple of VMs on their desktop.

We use 2960 and Cisco 500's through out our network, all connected to a 48 port gig layer 3 switch.

But if its only 15 users then one of the 24 port HP gig switches for about £300 should do it, its fully managed.

Is your network slow? What has prompted this desire to upgrade your network?
