Hi all, I'm into games like sim city 4000 deluxe, currently got my eye on cities XL.
OK I'm upgrading my PC and was wondering what sort of hardware would really benefit these games. My upgrade includes going from 2 GB DDR RAM to 4 GB of DDR 3, basically will 4 GB be enough to play cities XL or that sort of game without stuttering when I scroll around the map.

For current PC spec see sig.

New spec - core i5 ( + compatible mobo ) / 4 GB DDR 3 - not sure on graphics card yet.

Cities XL dosent use dual core, pretty sad that a 2009 game dosent use it when it badly needs it. I would try it on your current rig and see how it plays. Also maybe check out reviews of cities xl first... theyre pretty bad...

I'd say read some reviews first: the game has has not been well received. It's almost like a beta; cut down and minimised pre-release to then - assumably - be sold back as DLC. If you like core economics and a no frills simulator, give it a shot - but this title has no character.

And there's NO mass transit system at all!

Cities xl is a greater game, the reason that didn’t get good reviews is because it requires a monthly fee (that is not worth the money) if you want to play online.
The differences between solo and planet-offer is very small (in solo you trade with AI and in planet-offer you trade with other players) maybe the most important thing (for the beginners not for me) is that in solo the trade ratio is 4:1, that means that the solo is a bit more challenging, but still you can build a huge cities (fill up the entire map with skyscrapers) with 10.000.000 population without problems.

Cities xl moves the city-building genre in the next level and if you are fun of city-builders then I strongly recommend to buy this game.
