I have now wasted two days waiting for a parcel from City Link. Their online tracking system said that they attempted to deliver the item both times, but that nobody was in and they carded the property. Not only was I in both times that they claimed to have tried to deliver, but their cards were nowhere to be seen.
On calling them, apparently the driver really did try to deliver the item. This was confirmed because he claimed that I had a white door, which surprisingly I do. They're not that common I guess
To top it all, one more failed delivery and the Item is returned to sender

Anyone else have problems with them?

Actually no, citylink are the only courier that I have tried and not had a problem with.

(and I have tried a LOT of couriers!)

Your best bet would be to telephone the depot and sort out a rough time for the delivery and that you will be in.

Or, just to be on the safe side, have them hold it back at the depot rather than deliver it a 3rd time and go pick it up.

City Link are a pathetic useless company, how they do so well i'll never know. Plenty of times we have had our packages "stolen" where a driver once told us "he went into a pub with our computer case and put it down by his side" and when he looked back down "it was gone" WHY ON EARTH IS HE TAKING OUR PACKAGES INTO PUBS!?

And a couple of times drivers have claimed they have knocked several times, my house is awake amost 24/7 with people it would be impossible to not hear anyone knock.

As i said, a pathetic useless company.

Oh yeah, did i mention 75% of the items that do arrive come in a tattered smashed up dirty box.

No offence to OCUK but you should get some new companies delivering its really expensive!
OM-000-AK OcUK Multi-Colour LED Pen (OM-000-AK) 1 £2.05 £2.05

Subtotal £2.05

Shipping (City Link LinkLetter Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £4.75
VAT £1.19
Total £7.99
 £4.75 for a pen

Am I the only one who thinks City Link are fantastic? ALL my deliveries have come in mint condition, and arrive when City Link say they are going to etc. Maybe it depends where abouts you are? :)

Its actually a great plan, you are inclined to spend more money to make up for unreasonable delivery charges. i.e. you want to buy x but are considering buying y at some point in the future, you see ridiculous delivery charge a so buy x + y together.

All delivery men do that. We have a doorbell that's as loud as hell, which one of them apparently 'rung' before putting a note through the letter box, when I waited in all day specially. :(

I don't think that's limited to city link - I've always thought they do a fair job.

As I said in a lot of other posts, you can't say such a companies is good/bad. As it all depends on your local depot and even more on you delivery man.

Never had a problem with city link, royal mail, TNT intact none of the big ones.

They are good enough (no matter who the co is they not gona be perfict)

They even let me pick up a weekday delivery at the weekend ;) but shhh.

they may well have tried to deliver.

but if they dont see a car, they often dont try the door.

if there isn't a 'very visible' doorbell, they dont use it - so you probably dont hear it.

just a few they try on...

If a company is good in one place, and terrible in another, it's a bad company.

But i see what your trying to say.

Never had a problem with them or any other courier.

I believe a while ago there was a thread in GD allowing people to vote for citylink or amtrak and citylink won. So as Mr.Orb says, it was by popular demand.

Though I do agree that the high postage costs make small orders very unattractive.

I've had that happened to me a few times, the driver says he can't find the property and yet he delivers to my house at least once a month.

It seems to happen most on Fridays

as a business we receive parcels from all Co and the worst both personally and cfor business is City Link. I live and work rurally if they cant find you or even look they 'post' a card through the door.

To be fair this is an argument that will never be settled.

I have had excellent experiences with City link, while amtrack and parcel force have been average, and fedex and the royal mail have been an absolute disgrace.

There are people who will have totally different views to me.

City Link round here are pretty good, when stuff was delivered by Amtrak from Ocuk I saw the guy literally throw things out of his van trying to find the parcel he was trying to deliver.

We have had City Link attempt to redeliver several times in a day before so they get a thumbs up (plus they tend to come at 9am).

Edit: Parcel Force delivered my Xbox 360 the sunday before christmas. I saw the lorry pull up and I ran down to find the bloke had signed for it himself and was hopping back in the van after leaving a giant box emblazoned with 'XBOX 360' on my porch for the whole world to see.

Ages ago I had an Amtrack Guy (with my OcUK stuff) walk upto the front door, not even knock and post a "Sorry we couldnt deliver bleh bleh card" through the door.... I was in a complete state of WTF?!?!!!? and ran out to flag him down. In sheer distress, the only way a 29 year old man with a distirbing imature addiction to PC hardware could.

Of course he said he had knnocked but I had been watching him since the van pulled up, i was waiting for the knock/bell just to make it look like i hadnt taken a day off work, and was desperatley looking out of the window for my new Hardware :O tee hee.

Anyway the day they moved to City link i cheered. They are very prompt where i live, always before 10am. Amtrack used to bowl up around 3pm or later... the swines. As a bonus the delivery bloke sounds like Del Boy from Only fools and horses, which makes me chuckle.
