Hi.

Does anyone here know much about Civic 06 headunits?
Ive been browsing around some Civic forums and all ive gathered upto now:

- The original headunit HAS to stay in some capacity, be it in the dash or in the boot.
Aparentely it does more than play CDs. lol
- Its a pain to put my own player in.

Basically what i want is for my iPhone to be in my mount on the right of the dash, pumping its music over a cable (and charging) to the headunit, and have handsfree functionality as well.

The nearest ive gotten to finding a way to do it is using something called 'XCarLink'. But that would require some extensive cutting and drilling into the dash to get everything mounted where i want it.

OR

Get my local honda to add the BT kit to the car, then use a FM transmitter...

Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks in advance all. :).

Is this the new shape Civic?

Try the Parrot mki 9200. It's a bluetooth handsfree which is completely compatible with the iPhone etc.

It also comes complete with iPod/USB/SD leads/slots so that the iPod can be connected with ease.

You should be able to get it done for about £200 fitted - which is a LOT less than it would take to rip out the head unit and install a new one.

You also get the benefit of a great quality iPod player - FM transmitters just don't cut it IMO.

The only problem with that though is that its ANOTHER screen, and two devices to wire in...?

The screen can be put in a discreet position, or a lot of people seem to be putting it to the left of the display screen where it fits perfectly. If you get it fitted by a pro it will be a flawless job!

Seems like the best solution all round, I'm gonna get one fitted soon

Is there not a USB or BT interface available from Honda.Ive ordered a new Accord, and that comes with BT and USB as std, I'd assume the Civic would have these features as an option?

I think there is a BT kit for Hondas, but i cant find out much about it apart from it not being rated very highly and the lights on the mic being very obtrusive.:(.

Its a pain in the rear all this is.
My Focus, 'pop' to get all this done.
This Civic im getting, pain in the rear!

How hard is it to have handsfree, iPhone charging & music playback, all done neatly!:(

Right, the Parrot MKi9000 looks like a good option.
Asuming it can charge my iPhone as well as its advertised functions, and allows me to have my iPhone where i want on the dash, whilst allowing me to use it without the remote bit, im sold! lol..

Anyone got any thoughts on that?
