CL Final Ticket Farce

There is a similar problem with the distribution of England tickets for the World Cup. I think it's a real shame that the clubs fans don't get a larger majority of the seats available, particaulaly when support has been strong throughout the season. Count yourself lucky though, Middlesbrough only get 7,000 tickets for the UEFA cup final in Eindhoven. That's just about 20% of those available, obviously Sevilla will get 20% too, but who gets the other 60%?

We actually got 9200. Which have now sold out to S&T prefix season ticket holders only (We have 12000 of these).

I had to give up my S prefix when I went to Uni and only got a season ticket back a couple of years ago. Luckily I managed to get four tickets in the nautral section for a decent price.

What gets me is the way we decide who the longest season ticket holders are. I've been a season ticket holder for 15 out of the last 19 years yet I had to start at the bottom after giving mine up. Some S&T prefix season ticket holders will only have been for 10 years (But consective). Seems harsh on people who for one reason or another have to give up for a few years to have them start at the bottom. Always thought a points system based on season tickets, cup games and away games attended would be a better system.

We got our tickets, so my mates are chuffed, anyone else got any yet?

If you're going to this, even though i'm not a fan of either clubs, i'm really envious :p
I'd love to be there, the atmosphere would be absolutely fantastic. Hope you, and sure you will do, have an amazing time, especially if the gunners win, and i'm sure most of the UK is cheering them on, I am :D

have you decided if you are going or not ?

I've tried everything, believe me, but I just can't get the dosh together, so my mates having the ticket.

I've a feeling that not being able to go will haunt me for years and years and it's depressing the hell out of me, but there's nothing I can do. :(

I just hope we do the business and everyone who can go, DOES!!!!

Its seems an odd way of doing things.
Ive often wondered how other teams handle the loyalty system.
As much as I would like to I cant critisise Newcastles policy.
Each season ticket holder gets a book of vouchers , all the vouchers are the same and have a bar code on them.
The vouchers are used for cup games and away league games , you fill it in , send it back , then they scan the barcode into the computer.
This then builds up your "status" as a loyal fan over the last 10 years and when tickets are at a premium (european aways , sunlun away , cup finals etc) then its those who have attended the most games that get priority.

I cant think of a fairer way of doing things , with over 40,000 season ticket holders there is always going to be someone left disapointed whatever the venue.
Non season ticket holders , however, have no chance of any tickets unless its a very rare occasion of them going on general sale.

There's a guy who comes in where I work and he's had his season ticket used for EVERY game this season, home, away and European games... they denied his application for final tickets.

Nah , I dont believe that for 1 second.
So there are 7000 more people than him been to more games?
They never even fill their allocation for their visit to NUFC.
If what you say is true then it is a gross mismanagement by the club to blame.

I dont disbelieve you Nokkon , btw.

I am not a Boro fan, but their management over their fans isn't great (as Moody said). He was amazed he never got one.

It's true. They don't take into account cup or away games. If you have had a season ticket since 1996/97 then your either a s&t prefix season ticket holder. We have 12000 of these. They randomly drew people out a hat to allocate the 9200 tickets. (I kid you not)

Also, this season and last we sold out our allocation at St James. I was at both games and no empty seats in our end.

Sounds crap that moody , whats the S & T prefix all about?

The Boro never sell out here , I thought a man of your stature would know that.

Basically any new season ticket holder is assigned a prefix. For example new season ticket holders this year are prefix J.

S&T prefix season ticket holders are our longest serving holders (Approximately 10-11 years+). The whole prefix system was brought in when we moved to the Riverside so it doesn't distinguish between those who have been a season ticket holder for 10-11 and those that have been going for 25,26,27 etc. We currently have 12000 who fall under this category.

Now the problem with this system is that it takes no account of cup or away games attended. We had 10000 applications for UEFA Cup final tickets from s&t holders and rather then take into account the people who had been to the most uefa cup games it was a random selection process.

This has created uproar particularly as so far it is known that 2 out of the 34 people who have been to every UEFA Cup game (Home and away) the past two seasons have missed out.

Another problem and one that affects me is that the system only takes into account consecutive seasons as a season ticket holder. So if for some valid reason you can't renew when you come to renewing again you have to start from the bottom.
