Claim, or not to claim...?

Have you tried cleaning it up yourself yet? Like someone said earlier that may well just be paint transfer and polish out without too much effort.

I have given it some attention, but not that much to be honest. I will give it a better go tonight to see if I can remove the paint. Hopefully that is it.

On a side note, the AskMID site, it says:

As part of Continuous Insurance Enforcement, a letter is sent to registered keepers if their vehicle is not on the MID and appears NOT to have insurance. This will be enforced by way of a fixed penalty notice or prosecution if the vehicle continues to appear uninsured on the MID.

So does that mean, because I have done a lookup of a vehicle that isn't insured, a notice will now go out?

Certainly not immediately, but may be added to a list and rechecked further down the line.

It's more of a deterrent statement I would think, as e.g. a Sorn car wouldn't need to be insured (and so wouldn't appear on askmid), so they wouldn't be able to send a notice.

I have checked my new and old cars several times after selling cars, or changing between insurers just to ensure that they are covered (or not covered) as expected, and never seen/heard anything back.

Ah ok. That site is a brilliant link. I think in future, if I suspect the other driver is dodgy, I'm gonna use it to do a check there and then, and if it comes back as not insured, call the police (None emergency number though?). I bet at that stage the other driver will smack me one, and drive off.

Turns out he did give me the correct details. lol. Anyway, he tried to say that the quote I got was too expensive and that he was gonna get a garage in his area to quote and do the work. No mate, I don't think so. Hows about you just give me the money you owe me, or we get the police involved? Lets see if he pays up.

He damaged your car, you have it repaired to your satisfaction at a garage of your choosing, if he isn't happy about that then the insurance company get a call.

If he's done anything wrong then they will get the police involved to recover their costs.

what a joker. demand the money off him or go with a no win no fee accident management company they will sort it out if you have his real name and address.
surely you have whiplash after that :p:D

Try and trick him into admitting fault via text or something so you have proof if he tells you too **** off. Gives you some evidenance he was driving if you go to the fuzz.

Take a drive past the address he gave you and see if the car that he was in is there too. He must be a complete muppet to have given you all of his correct details while driving uninsured, untaxed and no MOT.
