Right i need some help with a problem which i guess someone will know something about! My ex-girlfriend has asked me to sort out lighting in her room which when she claps it turns off and on.

something you see in the movies i guess but anything from a lamp to fairy lights she needs. Just a sound activated light or even just a switch/device that can enable sound activated on/off!

:) cheers

I don't think I can post where from since it's a competitor, but if you know your way around a soldering iron you can get a cheap and able kit for a tenner from a well-know highstreet electronics dealer. A mate of mine has one.

yeh i have seen them from an electrical goods supplier, however i wondered how messy it would look and where you actually fit it. Could i ask a favor and get a photo if possible? no rush !

I posted a thread about this a while back with no replies, if anyone knows where to get this kind of thing that'd be awesome.

I am confused as to how they differntiate between the different rooms and switches though?

As suggested theres the kit from a competitor, but that isn't straightforward to install and shouldn't be attempted unless you know what your doing (alternatively, with low voltage lighting setups it could be quite easy to install and far safer). I haven't seen a wallbox module for it though.

I don't think i'd want one, imagine the everyday noises that could set it off, loud music, dropping things, closing doors hard, god forbid if you should have a drum kit in the same room :D  . I expect some modern ones use something like voice recognition systems to only react to clapping sounds, but most basic ones (including the kit) will react to any loud sound/2 loud sounds in a row.
