Clarke Tools Quality?

Seems a little on the cheap side for a Torque Wrench, the impact drivers etc that i've got are all Clarke and very well made but not that cheap, (5 Clarke Hex keys cost more than that wrench).

My Draper Torque Wrench is spot on as is my smaller Halfords Pro one.

i have a cheap clarke 1/2" drive torque wrench, it goes upto 210nm. i use it for wheel nuts and the higher range of the torque scale where its not as critical to be accurate

i wouldnt bother with a "cheaper" clarke one for critical parts.

if you want cheap and cheerful, get a draper 3/8 drive torque wrench. only £20something quid. a friend of mine has had one for years, every few months he takes it into work to calibrate and it has never needed to be adjusted because its still accurate

Think i will go for the halfords one or if anybody recommend any other brands. Needs to be low range it will be used to torque down camshaft caps so pretty critical in terms of torque load.

Ive got the very torque wrench you linked there mate.
Ive used it a few times (head bolts and the like)
Not had a problem with it yet, and should it go wrong, its full servicable...but Im only an enthusiastic novice. I wouldn't be using it if I were paid to take cars to bits and put them back again.

I've also got the top size halfords pro socket set, in terms of quality and feel, the halfords kit is superior, but the halfords stuff is better than quite a lot of the stuff on the market (exception of snap-on et al) so theres no suprise there.

You get what you pay for, I bought a Clarke nut splitter to get some nuts off a B-pipe and it was useless, not strong enough.

I've got a Halfords Professional Torque Wrench and it's really good, was £49.99 though.

i wouldnt touch that tbh i doubt theyll last and B itll take out all the fun of buying tools as youll have everythign in one go!!

as for £20 torque wrenches... get the draper

decided against the above 1 ill have no where to put it anyway and i already have a 1/2 drive set so i've gone for the smaller 55pcs halfords set i also i prefer quality over quantity.

The thing I'd say about that torque wrench is it's only 11" long and I'd like to see anyone pull 100nm through a bar that small. Look for one about 15"-18" long if you're tightening things up that tight, and it'll also be great for getting things like stuck wheel nuts undone :)

Yup, my bar hasn't failed yet. Stick it on maximum torque, everything comes undone no problem :)

And you know if you're going to overload it because it clicks :D
