Classic Movies on the Big Screen

I went to see the matrix a few weeks ago. Honestly it was pointless.

People in the cinema were talking and sometimes laughing at bits in the movie. I've seen this film somewhere around 20times and never ever found it funny.
The cinema really didn't change my experience of the film. It felt the same at watching at home, just with more disturbances. I won't be going to the cinema to see a classic again.

Sounds like you had a bad experience. I missed the Matrix first time round in the cinema and was gutted so getting to see it on the big screen was awesome.

I've seen Terminator 2, Die Hard and the Matrix... Seen more classics than new films recently!!

Honestly, that's one HELL of a high quality re-release list! I don't know if it's a local thing or not, but one of the chain cinemas by me used to do a thing where you could book the screen out for a party and view anything (I guess within reason) you wanted. I've always wanted to do that with Terminator 2!

The 'Prince Charles Cinema' Leicester Square is a great place to see the classics on the big screen. I remember seeing a double bill of "Weird Science" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" there about a decade ago.

Unfortunately, nobody I know wants to part with the cash to see movies that are:
  • "Old"
  • Something they've seen countless times before
:(

Some of the classics being shown at PCC in the next 7 days include:

  • The Matrix
  • From Dusk Til Dawn
  • Enter The Dragon
  • Oldboy
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Pulp Fiction
  • Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2
  • Speed
  • Terminator 2
  • Midnight Cowboy
  • Alien³ - [Workprint]
I want to see Alien³ & Terminator 2. I should just go on my own.:o:rolleyes::o

I think i'd watch most of those again at cinema. Just go alone, i've done it loads and it's quite enjoyable.

I'm thinking about it. They show so many great movies throughout the year, it's insane. I'm definitely the type of person who would like to take advantage of this, so I need to stop being a coward.:p

I wouldn't mind seeing Speed again, either.

@Sean34 Next time you're in the cinema with friends, take note at just how many people go to the cinema alone. When you try and spot it you'll see loads. I used to feel kind of awkward about it but after the first few times, it's no biggie. :)

The PCC have what they call "Marathon Nights" -- 6-8 movies based around a common theme, running throughout the night. Like this one in September.

https://princecharlescinema.com/PrinceCharlesCinema.dll/WhatsOn?f=12487222

ROBOCOP - Directors Cut
DREDD [2D]
THE MATRIX
EDGE OF TOMORROW
MAD MAX FURY ROAD
ALIENS (Directors Cut)
PREDATOR

Not sure I'd last the whole night, but it would be interesting to watch all those movies back to back.

As others have mentioned, the Terminator and Alien movies are incredible on the big screen, I'm hoping to catch Blade Runner at some point too.

For those who enjoy old school Japanese animation, Akira is fantastic on the big screen.
