I wasn't a big gamer in the early to mid 2000's as it was during this time all i was interested in was girls and going out partying etc, I literally missed an entire era of gaming due to this it was only a couple of years ago that i played Stalker for the first time, The atmosphere story line etc of that game was amazing, one of the best games i have ever played, enjoyed it more than many games i have played on my ps4 etc. I also played rivern from 1999, Another epic adventure game that's another one of my favorite all time games despite playing it for the first time over 15 years after it's release.

What other gem's am i missing? I like FPS's, RPG's Final fantasy type adventure games with great story lines and immersing atmospheres etc. Early to mid 2000's but any gems from the late 90's are good like riven for example.

Doom 3
F.E.A.R. + expansions
Painkiller
Far Cry
Half Life 2
Quake 4
System Shock 2 (play this with mods - amazing voice acting and story)
Thief: The Dark Project
Thief: The Metal Age
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Unreal (single player)
Unreal 2 (still pretty decent)
Max Payne 1 & 2

Deus Ex
Psychonauts
Beyond Good and Evil
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy (Remastered version available now)

I'll also second F.E.A.R. - I played it myself for the first time only a couple of years back and it's one of my favourite ever games.

Star Wars KOTOR games would still play great I reckon. On that theme you also have Republic Commando although admittedly lot of shooters suffer the most with age. Call of Duty 2 was great during a recent playthroigh though. I can be a sucker for WWII games so enjoyed Brothers in Arms series too. Apart from that here's a few more to throw in the ring.

Hidden and Dangerous 2
Freedom Fighters
Alien Vs Predator 2
Armed and Dangerous
Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of The Earth
Condemned Criminal Origins
Bully
Company of Heroes

To name a few that popped into my head instantly.

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
Knights of the Old Republic and Sith Lords
Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Spearhead, Breakthrough
CoD 1 and 2

Freelancer, though it needs to be tricked into running on Win 10 with an unofficial patch. (Think the original disc may also be one that won't install due to the MS/Securom spat).

I did try the original C&C a while back - graphics a bit clunky and found playing as Nod I couldn't get past the fifth or sixth level.

The MS Train Sim is a venerable survivor from 2001 as is the code for Flight Sim X (2006 or thereabouts ISTR).

Getting towards the end of the decade, Mass Effect 1 still good though again the Securom issue if you have to reinstall.

Another vote for KOTOR I & II. Graphics are dated but not annoyingly bad. Played through them both again last year for the I don't know how many times. Never gets old.

I can't emphasise this enough - No one Lives Forever and its sequel are well worth a play through. Such a shame they never managed to get a third game sorted.

How would one go about getting there hands on this/playing it now?

Is it available anywhere digitally?

I have great memories of playing this around Christmas 2001.
No where digital unless you look to naughty means... I bought if off ebay for few quid.

Due to some rights issue it won't ever come out digitally which is a massive shame
