Classic Pc Games from the 2000's that still hold up today?

Half life 2 holds up amazingly well. It still looks and plays great.

AVP2 haven't played it in years, but, such an atmospheric game. As a marine I genuinely felt the terror. No Alien game has captured the same tension. Like in Alien Isolation, I didn't feel the terror, I felt the annoyance of having to hide in a locker until the alien passed.

Some that pop into my head that I haven't seen mentioned are:

Diablo 2 - ok, so quite dated visually now, but it's still as fun as ever to play and the atmosphere is great.
Serious Sam - Solid FPS that's a blast to play through with a couple of friends, there's even been some HD remasters for some more up to date visuals.
Resident Evil Remake - Arguably the best RE game, also has another remaster version.
The Chronicles of Riddick - Not sure where this has gone, seems o have vanished from Steam Store?
Company of Heroes - Awesome WW2 RTS, can't think of any others that are better.

I was playing all the HL2 episodes not long ago, still a great game well made. Any game with top gameplay is going to work forever really, graphics are secondary but anyway hl2 looks ok still

Counter-strike will still play well.
Battlefield 2, probably the original also still should work well. I believe they have a ton of mods for them, one allows 50 v 50 milsim games

This is absolutely ancient but I still swear its the best, Stuntcarracer. Game is about 200k big, great feeling to the physics, vector graphics the maker is a physicist by no coincidence.
Ditto the F1 GP series, all should be good still

I wasn't a big gamer in the early to mid 2000's as it was during this time all i was interested in was girls and going out partying etc, I literally missed an entire era of gaming due to this it was only a couple of years ago that i played Stalker for the first time, The atmosphere story line etc of that game was amazing, one of the best games i have ever played, enjoyed it more than many games i have played on my ps4 etc. I also played rivern from 1999, Another epic adventure game that's another one of my favorite all time games despite playing it for the first time over 15 years after it's release.

What other gem's am i missing? I like FPS's, RPG's Final fantasy type adventure games with great story lines and immersing atmospheres etc. Early to mid 2000's but any gems from the late 90's are good like riven for example.

Mafia 2. Released in 2010 yet has 4K resolution support (!) and looks and plays beautifully to this date.

Gameplay is somewhere between GTA IV and V, but with the mechanics of the first Mafia game.

Also of a similar vein is LA Noire, again this has 4k support. but I don't think the game is quite as good.

Also, if you've played STALKER, then hopefully you've played Call of Pripyat. Again, this has 4K and loads of widescreen support. There are mods than can boost it to the max, and it's a properly scary/beautiful/excellent game, in fact for me one of the best horror games out there. The best in the STALKER series.

Actually I don't think I've seen GTA San Andreas in the list, scary to recollect that came out in 2005/2006.

Last time I ran it on Win 10 (Steam version) was having a few issues with CTD's and certain key responses not working properly. Notably the bouncing lowrider commands and "dance" inputs which are missions you need to pass to move forward in the game. I was also having issues triggering the "stealth" attacks on the first visit to Mad Dog's mansion - again a check you must pass to move forward.
