I guess not a lot of fellow OCUK'ers are overly interested in classical music. But as I get on in years I have to say my appreciation of classical music is changing, as a young'en I could not stand it, later i associated classical music with people just listening to it to assert social standing, now I find myself turning to classical music, I find it soothing, rich and engaging.

Just wondering if any other OCUK peeps have gone down the same path?

I grew up with a lot of classical stuff being played by my parents, so I've always had an appreciation for it..

and of course, then there's fusing classic, with 'modern'

I absolutely love classical music. Got a huge collection.

Some opera and classical stuff for you.

..happy listening.

Katherine Jenkins - hubba hubba

Watch the film Amadeus if you haven't seen as well. it won 8 oscars.

No, quite the opposite in fact. But I used to play an orchestral instrument (french horn) during my school years so was involved more with classical music then.

I was never in to pop music. From my earliest years I was in to orchestral music. I did slide with Abba and the songs from Grease, though, but it didn't last. :)

I prefer the Baroque.

Some recent listening:

Grew up with wagner - would pop down to the library as a 10 year old and get out classical records

possibly one of the greatest pieces of classical music ever (imo ofc)

The Toccata and Fugue to this day remains one of my very favourite pieces of music, and when I played piano when I was younger, was one that I always aspired to play. Never heard this one though, was interesting, thanks for that. :)

I love classical music, used to annoy my mates who were all metal heads by playing various classical pieces when they were over. Always been varied in the music I like and play.

I grew up listening to Classical music but remember for every great piece by a Master there was also a crap one.
A Classical band/orchestra worth checking out, and I have their entire collection, is Rondo Veneziano. They started in the 70s and use drums & bass to get the beat going but are all very talented musicians. You would also have heard a lot of their music in TV Shows over the years.

Been listening to it since my late teens but only once in a while. I do like Mozart and sometimes a little blast of opera. We did used to go to the Sunday night classic evenings at the Royal Albert Hall quite often. The listening really does depend on my mood.

I like to play classical music throughout the house via sonos. Its nice in the background and not as distracting as pop or radio.
