Clay bars

I enjoy it too, once a year - proper session. Did mine & the Mrs' car a few months ago...all day in the sun :). Might do the wheels this weekend.

what happens if you don't polish the car after clay bar?

the back of my car has been covered in grit and crap since winter, and it's about time i got rid of it by hand as the car washes didn't do squat (the paint is chipped, scratched and swirled to **** so i don't really care any more). i can't be really be bothered to polish it, so what happens if you don't do anything after clay bar? :o

Then there's nothing to protect the paint as any existing wax will have been stripped off.

This.

Paint won't mysteriously fall off the car or anything like that, but you will have piad £10 odd to clay it, and then its pretty much wasted because the contaminants you've removed will just stick straight back to the car again!

Get a nice, easy to use wax that won't strain you too much and you will be fine!

hmm
the car's been in norway for a year and been abused by car washes which have only added to all the other scratches and chips i've only just noticed, having inspected the car thoroughly now that i'm back home.

the back is still covered in sticky grit and other crap that i picked up over the winter months. the only 'wax' it's had in the last year is the stuff they spray on at the car wash.
took it to an 'american' car wash, which apparently uses scratch-free brushes, etc but whatever, the paintwork is shot.

i don't want to buy a rotory polisher and spend months cleaning my car as it won't be worth it as it would be easier just to repsray the damn car. so spec me some easy wax that's not a pain in the ass.

wax :o

but like i said, the only wax it's had on is the stuff that gets sprayed on at the car wash, and that doesn't really last all that long, so i'm not really bothered.
as long as it's not bad for the paint to not be treated after clay bar, i'm not really all that fussed :p

i remember when i was younger and i washed my parents' cars with a crappy sponge and bucket, ruining the paint, i never waxed it and all was well :D

I used a clay bar on my car last week.

When I had my Integra Type R I clay'd it just after I got it then every week I washed it and used a quick wax and it stayed so clean.

I will probably abuse my current car again now :p
