Okay I currently have windows 7 pre release on my crucial 64GB ssd. It set up two partitions, 100mb plus the balance.

I would like to do a clean sweep as its got messy with all my mucking about with drivers and install my proper new windows 7.

I'm not sure how I get rid of the current partitions. Is there a garbage cleaner or wiper program to run or do I just format the ssd?

So can somebody give me a simple list of what to do please?

Thanks

When installing Windows you can just format + delete the partition, then create a new partition from the unused space, unless im missing what you mean here?

Now if you mean system reserved partitions, well im in the same boat ;)

Just want to know if there is anything "extra" I need to do since it's a ssd plus there is that reserved system partition to deal with as well.

Also I am sure I have come across posts where windows 7 doesn't like trying to install on a disk with a windows 7 already on there or have I imagined it?

I'm planning on doing it tonight and once I start I won't have internet access anymore so trying to plan ahead.;)

I thought a few people on this forum would have gone through this process and can give me tips.

Ive got that same 100mb reserved system space. Anybody know what its for?

I installed windows 7 straight onto new SSD's though sorry so no idea about it complaining. Sure you can choose to format the disk though before it starts the install which would then get rid of the old windows 7 install

I found this on TweakGuides.com if it helps anyone

System Partition: During Windows 7 installation you may be prompted to create an additional partition for system files. This small 100MB System Partition is a requirement for BitLocker drive encryption, and also holds boot configuration and system recovery environment files. It is not allocated a drive letter, is marked System Reserved and hidden by default, and cannot be safely deleted after you install Windows. If you don't use BitLocker then you don't really need this additional partition, especially as it can be problematic to remove. Cancel out of Windows Setup, partition and format your drive by other means, then relaunch Windows Setup as normal. Windows 7 will not create a System Partition on drives with existing partitions defined before entering Windows Setup - instead your boot files and system recovery environment data will all be stored in a hidden folder on your OS partition.
