Hi everyone.

Wanting some advise of cleaning my rear brake discs. They have some mild surface rust on them and require a good scrub. What sort of products are out there to remove rust and bring em out nice and clean? Also where would I be able to purchase such products?

Thanks

You dont need to clean them with anything really, just mash the brakes from 70mph a few times and it should scrub them up.

If you insist on wanting to try clean them - use steel wool.

I heard mr. muscle is good!

Good for what? Removing rust? lmfao, do me a favour. :p

Honestly - dont waste your time, or if your going to waste your time - try some steel wool, but if the surface of the disc is pitted with rust - it's time to buy either A) a lathe or B) new discs.

Its just mild surface rust as in my first post. They have been sat around un-used for a while and just need a clean. They are off the car at the minute so may aswell give em a scrub over.

Mild rust will form as soon as the car is left for a few days.

So whats the point? Do you dry the inside of your petrol tank out when its empty? :p

Lemon juice is good for removing rust :)

Yep! Don't forget the sprig of coriander either!

Seriously though wire wool, but I wouldn't even bother. Just fit them and next time you use the car a miracle will happen :p

Emery paper or a stiff wire brush, though it's really not worth the effort if it's just light surface rust. What you must make sure is absoluetly clean is the disk mounting face and the hub/drive flange on the car.

Why can't some people just answer the question?

If I hadn't of mention disc brakes and put "I wanna clean some rust of metal" would I have got the answer I wanted?

Either lemon juice or if u want to spend money go buy some Amaze or Amway Metal cleaner
