Cleaning Keyboard

I find a lot of keyboards will come part when you unscrew them so that the top with the keys separates from the base with the electronics. Submerge in soapy water and give it a wipe. Leave it to try or use a hairdryer, then enjoy the shiny new looking keyboard.

I use the Dyson with brush attachment. Then dust some more with a paintbrush. Finally, I spray some water or Specsavers lens cleaner on a microfibre cloth and give it a wipe.

Pop up all the keys, soak them in warm water with a mild/strong solution of washing up liquid.

While the keys soak, unscrew the keyboard and remove all electronics. Wash all non-electronics in the same water that the keys are soaking in, and allow to dry. Give the keys a good swilling about in the water, so as to agitate any dirt from them. Drain dirty water and rinse.

Don't use hot water, as this can warp the plastic - as I found out once.

Before assembly, spray all plastics with "back to black" that can be found in 99p shops for cars. Once assembled, give another spray and take a photo for OcUK's approval. I find the back to black lubricates the keys, and they seem just as fluid as the day you bought the keyboard.
