What products/methods do you use for cleaning your Macbook keyboard and touch pad? Mines started out with a few dirty marks, especially on the touch pad button(not sure what to call....the mouse button thing) and its gradually becoming more visible, and dirtier.

I've used wipes and cloth's but nothing seems to work, I'm finding it impossible to remove these marks. I also bought a cleaning solution which doesn't help either.

Have you ever been able to remove the dirty marks from your Macbook?

When did you purchase it? Discolouration on early macbooks are a common problem and can be replaced under warranty, however if its a newer macbook I don't see what the cause may have been. Try washing your hands?

12 Months ago, and Yes I do wash my hands before using it. :)

Sounds like it might fall under the warranty - there were a fair few sent back and replaced / cases replaced for this fault.

Give apple a call and see what they say.

One of the very first Macbooks then, give apple a call and tell them that your macbook is suffering from discoloured palmrests, they are fully aware of this problem and will get it sorted.

whats the best way of cleaning MBP outter casing?
Got marks all over it an its annoying me !

MacBook Pro casing is fairly easy to clean - get some iClear from an Apple store :)

This has got me wondering now, what is considered dis-coloration, is the palm rest etc. meant to be the same white as the outer shell? or as with mine a darker, grubbier looking white/grey?

Have got a, according to the About This Mac, Machine Model: MacBook1,1,, is this one with the reported faults as i have AppleCare so may be worth looking into if it is.

Cheers

The palmrest area should be the same colour as the monitor bezel. It's not actually white, more grey/white.

Foam cleaner.

Always use it in work to remove grease/grime from equipment, and doesn't smear! ;)
