Cleaning off TP

Does giving the hsf and the cpu special treatments with purfiers etc really make any diff other than using some elbow grease with some tissue? I have never actually had to clean a cpu or hsf before. So dont know the differences. Has anyone had the chance to try both ways and see if there really was a difference?
 
I've just used tissue in the past and as long as you put some effort in it all comes off. Last time I did this I tried using some Vodka as well and it does make it easier but the results still looked the same.
 
so Nail polish remover works fine?

il try it ou when my waterblock comes, il put a tad on a microfibre cloth and clean off the paste, should that work?

or just a damp old cloth?
 
Meths, White Spirit, Vodka all work fine also... actually found White Spirit to really clean it quickly compared something like Meths :)
 
ok so once i have wiped the thermal paste off, should i leave it for a good 15 mins to clear or just apply the new paste straight away?
