Ok ive got a dell computer which is a few years old and im passing it onto my father as i have a new one now but its badly mucked up so i want to wipe everything! :D but how do I go about doing this on a dell ? I have windows 7 to install on this computer also so I even want to wipe vista off, so what im saying is that i want to wipe the hardrives completely :P.

Also a while agow i had a virus and i mucked somthing up in the bios so now when i turn the computer on there is two options on which OS i can load (both vista) and one has the normal stuff on it and one is just like the computer was when I first got it, how do i get rid of one of them?

Thanks!

What do you mean delete the partions? how do you go about doing that?, Im not too clued up about HDD's :P

When you install W7 you have the option to delete partitions and format drives. (when selecting install location)

Another option would be to download a disk utility called kill disk.
Dont worry it wont kill your hard disk.
Its main function is to completely wipe your chosen harddrive of all information including the current partitions.
Once completed which can take several hours depending on the size of the drive it will be as if the harddrive had just left the factory.
Doing it this way does take extra time but it will leave you a completely blank harddrive ready to take which ever Operating Sytem you choose to install.
And you can be safe in the knowleage that there will be nothing left to interfere with your system.
