cleaning PC

I am sick of paying ridiculous prices for air dusters to clean my PC, I don't even want to know how much I have spent over the years. I am tempted to get something similar to an airbrush compressor.

Anyone tried this? how many PSI would be safe to use on PC components? Any recommendations?

There are some cheap tyre air compressors for about £20 but they are powered through car cigarrette lighter which isn't practical for in-house use. also tyre air compressor have weird ends so I would need to stick a BiC pen plastic tube to open the valve.

Suggestions welcome

Wes, i have 2 in the garage (one backpack type and other bigger on wheels) but it may be a bit too powerfull

A mate reckons he has designed a thin tube attachement to his Hoover with some soft bristles at the end.

Sounds like a winner to me, someone should design one!

good try, I rarely clean the inside until I saw big temp change

Use one of those model kit spraying compressors.

Single Piston jobby, just right...

I just bought a fan filter for my intake. No more dust worries since. Means I just wash the filter every fortnight. £3 very well spent IMO.

also stop your fans from spinning while cleaning it or they may act like little gens if they spin fast enough

i have fan filters also, but you do still get some dust inside, also I use air dusters on my Av stuff as well and no filters there

You get some, but the gaps between needing to clean inside are so much longer.

I use compressed air myself when cleaning.

I can say that 120PSI is fine for components, Used them on my system quite a lot and hasn't let me down.

Air dusters are fine. I bought one from a supermarket, cost me £4. I just quickly blast the dusty parts of the insides and stick the hose of a vacuum cleaner over the area to suck up what i've just blasted into the air.
Doing it this way means you don't use too much of the air duster up and thus keeps your expenses down.
And unless your pc is in a reeeaaalllly dusty place, you shouldn't need to clean it out very often.

i borrowed a friends of mines compressor which he used for inflating the wheels on his tractor did the trick clean in under a minute.

I don't think the hoover is a good idea as it causes static doesn't it?
