Hey guys.

Whats best for cleaning a pc? Im upgrading loads of parts so i thought i best give my case/remaining hardware a good clean. Ive got some compressed air. Should i use anything else? Should i get some alcohol wipes for cleaning off old thermal paste?

Any tips on how to do it?

Cheers

some metholated spirits and cotton wool/buds are good thermal paste or component cleaners, does pong abit though

nylon causes static if i remember right, not cotton? buy a cheap bottle of meths from hardware store ,it evaporates,wd40 is an oil,its non conductive but will leave an oily finish behind

pinch one of the missus' make up brushes to dust off componants and inside the case after blasting with air duster.

also very good for cleaning fans.

I use Isopropyl alcohol spray for cleaning thermal paste off, along with a non lint cloth. spray on cloth, dab dab dab, done! :)

Google "servisol ipa 170 isopropyl alcohol" and you can get some for like £4

EDIT: crucial information... don't tell your missus!

Open your panels, take out the graphics card, fire up the dyson.. few minutes later with the brush attachment and its sparkly new again.

EDIT: Don't worry about static :D

Cheap Meths + Cotton bud...was going to try this but...

Good for cleaning fans and harder to reach areas?

or for specific components only... ?

I would only use meths and cotton buds for specific components, The rest can be done with canned air or a HOOOVAAR
