" Clear huge ES segment register " Ehh ??

A friend is trying to format his mums pc after a particularly bad virus, he got most of the way through it but then something must have gone wrong because now the pc seems to be stuck in limbo and wont do much of anything.

It begins to boot, and gets most of the way through, but in the end it shows P~OST Error 96 (Clear huge ES segment register). Can anyone explain what this is exactly and tell me how he can get past it. My initial googling didnt seem to offer much help tbh.

Tried clearing the CMOS? Usually done via a jumper, check the motherboard manual.

Think theres a bios option that does a boot virus check.
