I was thinking, really I'm making the problem worse by creating another thread on the topic, but my hope is this will act as a first port of call on the subject. After much trawling through the site in anticipation of upgrading to Conroe, with a new motherboard and ram, I stumbled across the Gigabyte DS3, accompanied by a note from staff saying "overclockers favourite" etc. However, from looking through the forums I keep seeing hints and titbits implying that the board has issues with certain ram. However, all I see is rumour and second hand information, and so would like someone who knows to lay down the facts. Is it incompatible with just the GSkill 6400 DDR2? All 6400 DDR2? Or something else entirely?
Sorry for adding to the litter, but I hope the reply helps untill tomshardware somewhere gives us an editorial on the subject.
