clearing web history

History is cleared by going to Tools / Internet options then clear history.Get rid of typed URLs by going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs and deleting the ones you don't want.

Or get the program listed above.Or stop visiting naughty websites ;) :D

Only for IE, and AFAIK CCleaner won't touch Firefox 3's SQLite files (and I've never tried it with Chrome, Opera, Safari et al)...

My son used to create another user account on Xp,browse for nawties, then delete the account after.Worked until I caught him hehe :D

Or dual boot to an OS on a fully encrypted partiton and do all your naughty surfing and viewing there, worry free.

A bit over the top when the latest Firefox, Safari and IE have a private mode that doesn't save anything!

Really, did not no this, where is the setting please.

Neither did I. Information may still leak :

1. Software bug in browser / OS
2. by design ( e.g. \Documents and Settings\user\Recent, index.dat, swap file, other undocumented locations )

No overlooked leaks on an encrypted partition. Someone would have to break into your computer remotely to view anything. Either that, or look over your shoulder. :p

In Firefox it's Tools -> Private Browsing, but you need to be running at least 3.1b2.
In Safari 3.2.1 on Windows, it's Edit -> Private Browsing...
You need one of the IE8 betas to use its private browsing mode, and Chrome has Incognito.
