CLI Application keeps crashing

Since I installed the Catalyst 6.2 drivers with the mandatory Catalyst Control Centre, my computer is misbehaving whilst playing games. I'm just running through FarCry 64-bit and I'm getting starts/stops amounting to about 10fps. The game minimises itself to the taskbar and I get a window saying:-

"CLI Application (Command Line Interface) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Does it sound like my video card is overheating and hence this application is trying to prevent it from doing so but crashing itself in the process?

Just installed the Catalyst 5.11 drivers as they are the latest before the control panel applet was dropped. No problems whatsoever. Smooth as silk mostly at 1920x1200. Obviously my computer doesn't like Catalyst 6.x.

What are the temps like, you don't have to use the CCC, you can just install the drivers, and use an old CP from a previous set, or you can use ATi Tray tools which a lot of ppl use.

Im running 6.1 omega's (http://www.omegadrivers.net/ he hasnt updated to 6.2 yet), they use the CP. I tried 6.2 with CP (put together by NGO) but got one crash to desktop in americasarmy, so whatever works...
